
Sarah Schmidt

Sarah Schmidt is the manager of civics partnerships at the U.S. Chamber of Commerce Foundation, where she plays a pivotal role in expanding The Civic Trust®, with a specific focus on the National Civics Bee® initiative.
A Florida native and military spouse, Sarah brings over a decade of dedicated service in the nonprofit and public sectors to this role. Prior to joining the Foundation, she served as the deputy director of strategic partnerships in the City of Jacksonville’s Office of the Mayor. In this capacity, she successfully leveraged strategic partnerships and developed initiatives to align the public, private, and philanthropic sectors around a shared civic agenda to addressing complex community issues. Sarah also served as a legislative aide in the Florida House of Representatives and worked at United Way of West Florida, where she managed community engagement and program development.
Within the Foundation, Sarah oversees the administration and growth of National Civics Bee partnerships with the goal of inspiring young Americans to engage in civics and contribute to their communities. Since joining the team in 2023, she has been instrumental in expanding the National Civics Bee by more than 300%, increasing its reach from nine to 40 states in under two years. Her current focus is on driving the expansion of the competition to all 50 states by “America’s 250th birthday” in 2026.
Sarah graduated from Florida State University with a Bachelor of Science in Finance and a Bachelor of Science in Social Science, concentrating in Public Administration and Economics.
